Environmental Engineering (Master)

The environmental industry is booming, and in-depth knowledge of the link between technical, economic and ecological contexts is becoming increasingly important. The three-semester master's program in environmental engineering offers just that for bachelor's graduates who want to delve more intensively into their subject.

Students can specialize in two of the following areas: Waste and Resource Management, Hydrology and Material Balance, Urban Water Management, Water Management/Hydraulic Engineering, Transportation and Environment, and Renewable Energy.

The program is designed to appeal to students who, within the framework of a scientific perspective, are interested in civil engineering systems on the one hand and who, on the other hand, would like to be actively involved in environmental protection by contributing to sustainable developments in infrastructure and civil engineering. They will also have the opportunity to learn the basics in modeling techniques and to work in detail on issues related to energy and environmental policy or project management.

The master's degree qualifies students for doctoral studies. Unique in Germany is the opportunity to acquire a "Certificate of Environmental Knowledge" at the Graduate Center for Environmental Research and Teaching at the University of Kassel while studying, thus gaining insight into current environmental research and interdisciplinary contact with students and doctoral candidates.
