Vocational Education - Metal Technology and Electrical Engineering (Master)

Education in working life and in school, innovative technology and lifelong competence development. If you understand these things as a whole, you have good prerequisites for the Master's in Vocational Education.

For teachers at vocational schools in metal and electrical engineering, these are elementary concerns. Regardless of where graduates go on to teach - it's all about industrial-technical vocational education that takes equal account of company innovations, trainees with heterogeneous learning requirements and modern, research-based technology didactics. In the master's degree program in vocational education (M.Ed.), students can deepen the competencies acquired in the bachelor's degree - taking into account the chosen specialization "metal technology" or "electrical engineering". A lateral entry from engineering courses is also possible. In addition to the teaching subjects, the core studies in education and social sciences are an obligatory part of the teacher training program at the University of Kassel.

The four-semester course is not subject to admission restrictions. Admission requirements are a bachelor's degree in vocational education, at least 48 weeks of practical experience in the industrial-technical field and at least five weeks of school internships. Alternatively, admission is also possible with an equivalent degree. Graduates can start their traineeship at vocational schools, teach at vocational educational institutions in non-school settings or take on managerial training activities or activities in personnel and organizational development. Vocational teachers at vocational schools cooperate closely with those responsible for training in industry and the skilled trades. One of the central tasks of vocational teachers is to advise and support heterogeneous groups of students. To develop and implement innovations in school operations, they bring with them the necessary vocational pedagogical, subject didactic, organizational and social competencies.
