Hands-on technology in Witzenhausen

On 29.9.2024, "Technik zum Anfassen" took place for the 11th time on the school campus of the vocational schools and the Johannisberg School in Witzenhausen.

With around 60 exhibitors, the fair is the largest children's and youth event for science and technology in North Hesse. Pupils, students, teachers and parents were able to try out, touch and marvel at a variety of hands-on experiments and exhibits to their heart's content at the well-attended exhibition grounds and also find out about the wide range of commercial and scientific/technical apprenticeships, dual study, training and further education opportunities in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology.

The MINT Hub of the University of Kassel was also on site with a stand and presented exciting hands-on activities in cooperation with the departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. For example, visitors young and old were able to test their reaction speed in a game of skill, uncover the secrets of bridge building and race on the Carrera track of the Department of Plastics Engineering, which is driven by electrically conductive smart plastic training bands.

The RoboCup robot, which had to find its own way through the labyrinth, and the 3D printer, which could be seen printing small dinosaurs, also attracted a lot of interest. The printed dinosaurs were then available for visitors to take home as a souvenir.
