Almost all electrical energy generation and over 50% of electricity consumption is based on energy conversion in an electrical machine. Electric drive technology is therefore a key technology when it comes to energy saving. Drive technology is currently experiencing an unprecedented boom, particularly due to topics such as electromobility. The comparatively simple scalability and the possibility of changing the speed with high efficiency levels of over 90% make electric drives so attractive. Mechanical solutions are therefore increasingly being replaced by mechatronic concepts. This requires interdisciplinary thinking, which is to be trained on the basis of industrial projects as part of the Vehicle Systems Research Network (FAST).
