About Claude Draude
Since January 2017, Claude Draude has been Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kassel, Germany. Here, she is head of interdisciplinary, international work group Gender/Diversity in Informatics Systems (GeDIS) and on the director’s board of the Research Center for Information System Design (ITeG). Since 2018, Claude Draude is also adjunct professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences with the right to award doctorates. As of April 2019, Claude Draude is part of the expert committee of the third Gender Equality Report focusing on digital economies of the German government. Other special appointments include advisory board member of the newly to be established research center of Sustainable Development and Transformation, University of Kassel and scientific expert in the project group “Responsibility Diffusion through Algorithms” at the Center Responsible Digitality (ZeVeDi), Technical University Darmstadt (both since 2020). Claude Draude is one of the founding members of work group "Participation" in section human-computer interaction, Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI e.V.).
The research design of both professorship and work group is unique in its aim of working with approaches from intersectional feminist STS, new materialism, arts and design in computing. Claude Draude’s research activities evolve around sociotechnical systems and human-computer interaction. She mainly works on participatory, critical and use-oriented design; human models, embodiment and artificial intelligence; artistic research and the knowledge question in computing.
